Only one primary race on Cerro Gordo County ballot in June

MASON CITY — The deadline for filing for the June primary for county offices up for election this year was on Friday, and there will be only one contested primary on the Cerro Gordo County ballot this year:

 

== On the Republican ballot for Sheriff, long-time deputies David Hepperly and Matt Klunder will face off for the nomination. On the Democratic Party side, deputy Brian Koob has filed. Current Sheriff Kevin Pals announced in January that he would not seek another term 

 

== For the First District seat on the Board of Supervisors, Republican incumbent Chris Watts of Mason City and Democrat Tim Lapointe of Mason City have filed to run for the district that  includes all of Mason City’s Third Ward, Ward Two Precinct Two, and Ward Four Precincts Two and Three. 

 

== For the Third District seat on the Board of Supervisors, Democratic incumbent Lori Meacham Ginapp will be challenged by Republican Carl Ginapp of Mason City for the district which includes all of Mason City’s First Ward, the second and third precincts of the Second Ward and the first precinct of the Fourth Ward. It also covers the communities of Rock Falls and Plymouth and the Falls and Lime Creek-Mason North townships. 

 

== County Auditor Adam Wedmore filed for re-election and does not have a challenger either on the Democratic Party ballot or in the November election. 

 

The primary election will take place on June 4th.
